Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken on my back porch, I saw this caterpillar in my yard and thought it would be a good subject to practice on. Being new to photography I was trying out different lens teaching myself as I worked.

Time

On a beautiful summer sunny afternoon I was looking around my yard for things to photograph and try out my new macro lens. I was very excited about how the photo came out as I had just purchased my 1st digital camera and started my self taught journey into photography.

Lighting

The lighting was a bright sunny day and as I was new to photography I really didn't think about the lighting just getting a clear photo.

Equipment

Photo was taken with a Sony A6300 and a kit macro lens no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

The inspiration of this photo was that it was an interesting subject with different textures and I was excited about capturing it eating.

Editing

No post processing was done to this photo.

In my camera bag

At the time of this photo my bag was filled with the Sony A6300 and the kit lens that was sent with the package I purchased. I have now added a GM100-400 lens, GM 24-105 and a Zeiss 32mm, they are great lens and I have enjoyed working with them. I have not up graded my macro lens yet but I think the kit lens took a good photo.

Feedback

The advise I can give as to macro photography is that if you are photographing a moving subject such as a flower be careful that the wind is not blowing it will make your photo blurry. Also I was told to use a flash it helps, I didn't use the flash on this photo because the sun was so strong I didn't feel the need for it.
