St Bathans is often referred to as ghost town, which is fairly accurate, considering it has fewer than 10 living inhabitants. The rest are all, well, ghosts.
Its most famous resident, a prostitute nicknamed "The Rose", died more than 100 years ago. Her malignant spirit is said to haunt the Vulcan Hotel to this day, making the sleepy one-street village an unlikely hotbed for paranormal tourism.
Ironically, it's this notoriety which seems to have saved St Bathans - which had a population of more than 2000 in its heyday - from its own death.
