Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at the Zoo, while testing out my 300mm lens.

Time

It was already getting late in the day which help the light pink feathers to glow a little bit

Lighting

It was getting late in the day, which help to get the background more dark help the colors to glow but needed help with a permanent light as the pelicans was in motion which need to be frozen as well with a short shutter speed.

Equipment

canon eos 6d, tamron 70-300mm, permanent flash light

Inspiration

I was looking for colors and structures in animals

Editing

did use photoshop to mask the pelicans and get the background in pitch black than just dark to accentuate the colors even further

In my camera bag

for hing and trekking with the family I use Sony A6k - however when going of on my own for photo walks I use my canon 6d, tripod, wide angel lens for landscape, 70 - 200 2.8 canon lens for portraits and 50 mm lens. I normally cary one lens and the camera on the shoulder belt except when I go for night photography or for a special landscape or architecture shot then I use maybe filters and a tripod. Trying always to stay lean.

Feedback

Public zoo on an overcast day - of course after Corona lock down relieved - is a great opportunity to study animals, colors, patterns and get into the flow without too many people....
