Location
This one off shot of the Lioness was taken at Münster (All weather) Zoo in Nordrhein Westfalia, Germany. I will never forget taking many photographs that day but this one i will never forget as i stood there for approximately 20 minutes waiting for the Lioness to turn her head in my direction. Once she did this snapshot was the outcome. There is a great meaning to the saying 'Patience is a virtue'Time
The time of day the shot was taken was mid afternoon on a beautiful Summer's day.Lighting
Only natural light from the weather at the time came into question for this shot.Equipment
My camera equipment at the time was my very first Nikon and the model at the time was the D7000 SLR and the lens used because of the substantial distance was my Sigma 50 - 500mm (Very heavy ). No other equipment was used, ie no tripod.Inspiration
My inspiration for taking this photograph is my constant desire to capture beautiful images of wild animals and any other subjects for that matter. I find photography in general to be inspiring, like music a certain photograph or photographs can bring beautiful memories of the past come flooding back.Editing
I often post process a range of my photographs and have varing software programmes to do so ! This particular photograph of the Lioness was post processed using a programme called ' Smart Photo Editor Studio ' Vers 1.29.0 from Anthropics Technology which i find very good producing fantastic results with relatively little effort !In my camera bag
Equipment ! In order to keep improving ones photography skills i have always tried to keep upto date with photographic hardware. My cameras started with the Nikon D7000 and progressed to the D7100 and then the D810 i also have a range of varying lenses from normal, long range and wide angle, not forgetting Macro photography around 10 lenses in total.Feedback
I am really an amateur hobby photographer and find sometimes that good shots can come about spontaneously others like the Lioness plenty of time and patience are needed. When going on visits to photograph animals or people for that matter matter always be ready for the unexpected, other types of photography like landscapes or still life you have all the time in the world to get your camers settings right. Also make sure you have enough post processing software to achieve the results you may desire. ' Happy Shooting' Simon Pim Hogben.
