Behind The Lens
Location
We have a hillside behind the house that doesn't get mowed until late summer. Since all the wildflowers are plentiful, This image was taken in rural Pennsylvania. It’s called Blue Lettuce.Time
I often walk up the hill behind the house at various times of the day to catch different light situations. This was taken midday when the bright sun cast shadows on some of the petals.Lighting
Natural light situation with the camera in macro mode.Equipment
Canon SX 50 HSInspiration
The curling pistils/stamin and the white crystal-like pollen are barely seen with the naked eye. I liked the periwinkle color of the petals, then looking at the image for review, I saw the absolutely amazing curls and crystals!Editing
Minor adjustments to contrast and highlight were necessary being that this was taken in direct sunlight. In my camera bag
Neutral density filter always matters when shooting landscape. So I always have that in place. Lens cleaning supplies are good to carry as well, just in case.Feedback
A steady hand when shooting macro in so important. Also using a monopod or tripod would be good. I usually don't carry the tripod. This day I just hand held the camera.
