Behind The Lens
Location
In Southwestern Pennsylvania, in the field behind our home, this tall purple Ironweed grows wild in late summer.Time
This is pre sunrise on a Sunday morning late August, when the dew is still on the foliage. This image is one of my favorites because my husband drove me up the hill early to capture sunrise images. The skies on this particular morning in August were clear and crisp, with a light mist in the valley below.Lighting
Natural light was used to capture this image.Equipment
Hand held, Canon SX50, standing 4ft from the purple flower and zoomed in to catch focus along the lower third of the frame.Inspiration
The contrasting color of purple against the almost pink wisps of hay, and green foliage with that blue morning mist behind it all, made the eye-candy!Editing
I used minor adjustments to contrast and highlight, direct from my memory card to Windows live gallery for the adjustments .In my camera bag
I usually take my camera, slung over my right shoulder, with a clean memory card and freshly charged battery. I've learned the hard way to clean the lens before taking images toward the sunlight, so never forget to grab a few lens wipes on your way!Feedback
Try using a monopod for lower light exposures, to steady the shot. I would also remember to dress for the outdoor conditions i.e.: boots, blue jeans and a little bug repellant, each of which I used on this particular morning! Enjoy the beauty!
