This Photo was taken during my Faroe trip in May 2017. I love to travel around and discover new destinations and specialy when they are remote and not so touristy.Time
It was at 5:30PM on Thursday, 18.May.2017. We had a stop in the capitol Torshavn and decided to drive to the Island of Vagar for what we used the old road and there was this cross to this small village.Lighting
It was propably the best day we had in the Faroe Islands cause the days before and after this day there was a lot of fog or rain. On this Day we had very nice sun and just some clouds coming from the ocean which gave me some nice opportunitys to use.Equipment
For this one I use a medium format camera, a Phase One IQ3 100MP XF System with a Schneider-Kreuznach 35mm LS f/3.5 which was a rental from my friends at Capture One Pro. Also I had a Induro CLT203 Tripod with a BHD1 ballhead and a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which was used to capture this Image in tethered with live view and manuell focus control in Capture One to ensure a great sharpness.Inspiration
I loved this view of this curved single line road into the valley between this impressive columnar basalt wall and in the front the Island of Koltur.Editing
This is a single shot and I used some general adjustments like highlight and shadows and tonal correction. And local white balance, saturation and light adjustments for the the sky, water and ground. In my camera bag
Depends on which kind of trip, but mostly a Sony SLT-A58 with a Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 and a Sony SLT-A99 with a Sony Zeiss 24mm f/2. A Cullman Nanomax 400T tripod with a CB6n ballhead or a Induro CLT203 tripod with a BHD1 ballhead. And sometime I take the Microsoft Surface Pro with me to edit direct on location to ensure same colour.Feedback
Take your time for a capture, don't hesitate, sometimes you can plan a capture sometimes it's just the moment. I like to say „It’s not about snapping or shooting a picture. It’s about the capture of a moment, just a split of a second, which is unique, and will not appear again.“
