Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on Thurstaston Common on the Wirral in NW England

Time

It was taken in the afternoon in not ideal light but the clear blue sky put a nice coloured reflection on the water

Lighting

The light was quite harsh but the dragonfly wouldn't have waited for it to improve so we had to go with what we had.

Equipment

It was shot with a D5200 Nikon and a 70 - 300 vr11 lens hand held

Inspiration

The pool isn't at all photogenic but it is a favourite haunt in the summer for me as it has Emperors, Broad Bodied Chasers and loads of Damsel Flies around it.

Editing

I am still a post processing beginner so very little was done.

In my camera bag

My D5200, 70-300 and 18-55 lenses.

Feedback

Patience will pay dividends, sit quietly and watch the route they take patrolling their patch noting where they settle on route. Take a thick plastic rubble sack to sit on as nothing dampens my enthusiasm like wet trousers.
