Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken while out camping. The bulldog is our pet, and loves people. Our nephew was sitting down quietly and the bulldog came over sat down beside my nephew and rested his head upon his.

Time

This photo was taken in the early afternoon, we were camping in out back australia, and it was HOT, so everyone was pulled up sitting around waiting for it to cool off. So I decided to wander around and see what I could capture on my camera, as there was not much else to do but sleep.

Lighting

The back ground is actually sunlight reflecting on a brown creek water, the bulldog and my nephew were sitting on the creek bank, and facing the water. Thats how it's created a nice one color background, there was not a breath of wind, the weather was still. So barely a ripple appeared on the water. There was plenty of shade from trees around, but none of it captured in this photo.

Equipment

This was shot on my Nikon D60 with a 70-300mm lense.

Inspiration

To be honest it was one of those spare of the moment photos, a once in a lifetime shot, something that would be extremely hard to replicate. Our bulldog, loves people and this photo really captures that emotion.

Editing

The only post processing, was converting the picture to black and white. I do this with most of my colored photos, because sometimes the photo looks better in black and white than it does color. And this was one of those shots. My nephew was wearing a green camo shirt, the bulldog is white and the creek was a horrible brown, so the color version didn't look good at all.

In my camera bag

As an ameture photographer I only work with my d60 and the one lense I have or my mobile phone.

Feedback

Capture the little moments time, I tend to cart my camera everywhere, to take photos like these. Because you never know what awesome shot life will throw at you.
