Location
On the Big Island of Hawaii on Mauna Kea at approximately 13,000 ft. sit these world class observatories. You can leave the beach where it's 80 degrees and 1.5 hours later you're in 28 degree weather. It snows up here in winter months. People drive up here for sunset. It really is beautiful when the weather cooperates. This was one of those days.Time
Just before sunset. After sunset they want you back down the mountain so the science can commence.Lighting
Available light. Nothing tricky.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark III. Love the camera. Used my 24-105 'L' lens.Inspiration
Simply an amazing view from the top.Editing
This pano was 4-5 photos stitched together using Photoshop. In the old days this would have been a challenge to do. To get it right was fun work. Now it's pretty much automatic. No real challenge to stick the landing. In my camera bag
What I mentioned earlier plus a 100-400 Canon 'L' series lens. Have learned you have to have good glass for good pictures.Feedback
Don't spend all your time at the resort or beach. The Big Island has so much to see and take photos of. Panos are fun to do. Just shoot your photos l, keep an eye on the horizon, leave plenty of overlap for Photoshop to work with and you should be good to go.
