For years, it was common to find emergency pay phones along Alaska's road system. With long distances between towns, and no way to call for help along the way, these phones could literally be lifesavers. As cell phones became widespread, these phones were pulled from service. This phone was located at Dry Creek, on the Alaska Highway between Tok and Delta Junction. There are sections of this 110 mile stretch of road where your cell phone will still not have service, but things have definitely improved from the old days.
