Miford Sound is a fiord in western New Zealand. A isolated and beautiful region is a major tourist attraction. Milford Sound runs over 9 miles inland from the Tasman Sea, the mouth of the fiord—and is surrounded by sheer rock faces that rise 1,200 3,900 ft or more on either side. Note the snow on the peaks, and the fog in the valleys .
