Travelling To The Stars Nafez Tawk
People say that a picture is nothing but a click.
Well, some yes, but many are not. This is one of them.
This picture has been in the making for more than a year. Although the knowledge we have acquired in photography led us to take it in 5 tries, what went behind this photo is what makes it that special.
We had to find the right person for it, step forward Nafez Tawk. Lebanese snowboarding champion and an adventurer that represented Lebanon in hiking activities in Himalaya, Japan & Europe was the volunteer to get on the kayak and stand in cold and wet conditions while we took it
Timing and location were essential, and after studying several locations, we decided that Ayoun Orgosh would be the ideal spot. June 25 was the desiganted date since we were all free the next day and it would also be a "New Moon"
Preparation took several hours between finding the ideal spot, frame and composition that were best for this picture. Getting the Kayak to stay still in the water, was no easy task, and thanks to Nafez and his ingenuity he managed to fix this issue after getting himself wet.
You might ask but why the Sherwel (Traditional Lebanese Clothes). This represent the idea behind this photo, that Lebanese, regardless of where they are from, be it the village or the city, they are hard workers that are ambitious and determined to reach their goals, and their belief is that they can reach for the stars....
Big Thanks to:
Tarek El Wazzi for lighting Jihad Asmar for his snoot and his company Rita Mikael Abir Saab for the support....
