I like the contrast of the mist and the lantern.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the village Chamonix, located in the French alps at the base of Mt Blanc, near the junction of France, Italy and Switzerland.

Time

This photo was taken early evening on a walk through the town before dinner. The day had been cold with some snow, even though it was only mid-September.

Lighting

This photo was taken with natural light only, which I absolutely love because it means the limited backlight from the sun allows black lamp to really stand out.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon COOLPIX S6500 with a 1/2.3-in sensor and 4.5-54.0 mm focal length.

Inspiration

I really loved the shape of the lamps in this town and the mountains made a great back drop for a creative shot. I try and take unique photos from angles, or or object that may not necessarily seem worthy of being the focus of a photo. The mist in the mountains also created a mysterious type mood which I really wanted to capture.

Editing

I have very limited knowledge about processing photography so none of my photos having any post-processing to them.

In my camera bag

The camera I currently have is a Sony HX90V compact digital camera with a 1/2.3 type (7.82mm) Exmor R CMOS sensor and an ISO of ISO 80-12800. I also usually pack a small tripod. That's all I carry with me!

Feedback

I think the key is to look for something ordinary and then think about the ways that object can be captured in a unique and interesting way. Trying lots of angles/directions and focus points for the same object can help get the perfect picture!
