At sunset...Lighting
Yes, we wanted to photograph the mills in Kinderdijk in the beautiful light of the sunset and were racing on the highway. I thought at that time that the sunset would be over by the time we would get there, but we were just on time. I could not resist grabbing the camera and shooting this, it was too beautiful!Equipment
Nikon D750 with the Nikkor 24-120mm lens, no tripod or flash. I was driving, the camera was handheld and on liveview when I took this picture this through the windscreen. Much to the passengers dismay, I might add...Inspiration
The beautiful lines and the great light.Editing
I straightened the near sides, and I cleaned up the photograph, my sensor was extremely spotty at the time... I also picked up the shadows a bit. All in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I always have a brush, a cloth and spare batteries, for a start. Then the camera, which now is a Nikon D850, and a wide-angle lens (Tamron 15-30mm) and a telelens (Tamron 70-200mm G2) or, when I want to travel lightly I just take my alltime favourite Nikkor 24-120mm with me. Last but not least, I carry everything in a PacSafe shoulder bag that I have used for years now, and with which I know that my camera and other belongings are safe. My tripod is never far away, in case...Feedback
Well, first of all, don't rush, plan! Definitely do not take pictures and drive at the same time! Planning ahead and making sure that you have enough time to enjoy whichever time of the day you're taking full advantage of, will definitely provide you with more stability and possibilities to focus on the image you want. Always be aware of your surroundings, even if you have a clear plan... sometimes beauty hits you in an entirely different setting, not being too rigid about your plans makes space/time for unexpectedly satisfying pictures.
