Inhabited UNESCO site - Kinderdijk, a village in the the Netherlands' South Holland province, known for its iconic 18th-century windmills. Its water-management network features 19 mills and 3 pumping stations, plus dikes and reservoirs that control flooding in the polder (low-lying land). Waterways, footpaths and bike trails crisscross the area, leading to the main visitors center and museums in preserved working windmills.

This is really superb Kristina! Love the blur of the blades that give movement to the picture and the pearly background of the evening (?) sky gives it a beautiful, dreamy quality. It's not often that one gets more than double peer awards than likes for a photo! Congrats!

I love that place. I found it hard to really capture great shots there. But every shot of windmills usually to turn out great. This photo is one of those great shots. The camera played a small part. 😂

😃 wind has been used for eons to our advantage. It's a wonderful source of energy, as is flowing water ...

The photo was taken in The Netherlands, at Kinderdijk, a village in the the Netherlands' South Holland province, known for its iconic 18th-century windmills. Its water-management network features 19 mills and 3 pumping stations, plus dikes and reservoirs that control flooding in the polder (low-lying land). Waterways, footpaths and bike trails crisscross the area, leading to the main visitors center and museums in preserved working windmills.Time
At dusk... I had planned, after a gorgeous day in Rotterdam, to photograph the mills in Kinderdijk in the most beautiful light of the sunset. When I left the city, I did not think that I would get there on time, but... luckily, I even had some minutes to spare :-)Lighting

Nikon D750 with the Nikkor 24-120mm lens, on the tripod, no flash.Inspiration
The ambient light, the greens, yellows and blues and then the mill started moving. It was mesmerizingly beautiful!Editing
The light was already perfect and the tripod made sharpness an easy task. In Lightroom, I cropped the picture quite a lot, night was falling rapidly, I had no time to run nearer. And I picked up the shadows a little bit.In my camera bag
My Nikon D850 and a wide-angle lens (Tamron 15-30mm) and a telelens (Tamron 70-200mm G2) or, when I travel light I pack my alltime favourite Nikkor 24-120mm. Last but not least, I carry everything in a PacSafe shoulder bag that I have used for years now and love, it keeps everything safe, including a lenspen, cloth and spare batteries, a spare XQD card and SD cards. My Manfrotto tripod is never far away, in case...Feedback
Kinderdijk is a very beautiful place with a lot of interesting history. It is definitely worth going very early or late to catch the most beautiful light of the day... Whether the mills are working or resting, it remains interesting, but the charm of the movement caught by the light of dusk did it for me...
