Taken from the 42nd Floor of Tower 1, Barangaroo, over looking the Sydney CBD, NSW, Australia.Time
This was taken during Blue Hour on 13th June 2017 at 6.35 PM.Lighting
This was the first time I'd tried doing a HDR merge for a night time photo. I used the in-camera HDR feature with plus/minus 1 stop and then merged the three photos in LightRoom. This was also using a new NiSi Natural Light Filter. I was very happy with the result, as it added to the vivid colours and capturing more of the dynamic range. The filter helped by removing some of the light pollution.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark IV, with EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM , tripod, using square filter holder and was trying new NisI Natural Light Filter.Inspiration
This was taken at a Canon Collective event during the Sydney Vivid Festival 2017 and were given exclusive access to the 42nd floor with 360 view of Sydney Harbour and the city. I wanted to make the most of this opportunity of the view and the extra colour lights on display, but also to try something new for me, like the night time (blue hour) HDR and using Night filter.Editing
LightRoom HDR merge, straighten, crop and slight adjustments. In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mark IV, 16-35mm, f/2.8L II, 70-200mm f/2.8L II and 100-400mmf/4.5-5.6L II, grad and ND filters, spare batteries, CF & SD cards, headlamp.Feedback
You really need to be careful of any internal light sources, reflecting of the glass that can appear in the image, use a shroud/jacket etc to help block out.
