Behind The Lens

Location

I was on a trip visiting my aunt in the Constance lake region. The day trip took us to Weingarten, a town close to Ravensburg. There I saw these beautiful lines and the light was kind of perfect. So I decided to let my shutter click!

Time

It was late in the summer afternoon and the Sun started to go down. As to can imagine the face of the building faces southwest and the sun was just flooding the whole town.

Lighting

I wanted to recreate the impression that I got. I was blended by the white facade and could barely keep my eyes open. So with that in mind I tried to recreate that in post processing.

Equipment

I shot this picture with a canon eos 500d and the standard kit lens. I’m a self taught hobby photographer and try to work with what I got in my hand at the moment.

Inspiration

The feel of the moment made me grab the camera... it was just overwhelmingly hot and the light reflecting of the building... it was a sensory overload.

Editing

I played with the contrast and the tone a bit to recreate my impression of the moment. I think I shot it in an assisted modus, and well... we know that just comes out as the camera feel like it. So I had to push the values a bit to recreate what I saw.

In my camera bag

Depends on the day and the trip. Sometime is just my smartphone and the hope that nothing to great pops up (which I more than often regret), and sometime I pack my whole bag, tripod, 6d, lenses, filters and what not.

Feedback

I know pros say “plan your shots” but sometimes you have to be spontaneous and grasp the moment and hope for the best. So keep you eyes open!
