I took this photo in the fields behind my great grandmother’s house.Time
This was intended to be a Golden hour shoot, but we started shooting before the golden hour really started.Lighting
At the time when I took this, I had little experience in the understanding of lighting. As I’ve grown, I have found that I could definitely have improved this photo tremendously by adding a little more light.Equipment
For this photo I used a Canon Rebel xs with a standard 18-35 mm kit lens. Unfortunately, it broke in the beginning of the session. Lucky for me, I knew someone with another one, so we were able to get the spire back on the road fairly quickly.Inspiration
It was actually my model’s idea. She has been looking at Pinterest for ideas and that was a shot she really wanted.Editing
Absolutely! I used a layer mask to turn the photo black and white and then erased over the mirror to show the color. After that, I made some simple lighting a contrast correction adjustments. In my camera bag
I always carry my reflector, my camera, spare battery, charger, speedlight, and plenty of memory.Feedback
I would go for more dramatic lighting if I got to do it all over again by adding a strobe. I would also suggest putting the focus on the mirror versus the models on the ground.
