Fantastic job! I’m not a fan of photos of people they look so staged. Great job capturing real emotions!

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a field outside Tübingen | Germany; i planned the the whole thing for months ahead( i knew where they're going to plant the rape seeds), before the flowers where in bloom and then waited for the right time to ''strike''. I am an autodidact, that's why every shot is for me an opportunity to learn something new.

Time

We headed out there in the morning expecting a cool breeze and tranquility. But as we got there all hell broke loose as there where thousands of bees and monstrous heat. Kelzang tries actualy not to be blinded by the passing bees and my Sunbounce light, such an apparent serenity she shows...

Lighting

The good thing about shooting in the mist of yellow flowers it's that they reflect and modify the whole sunlight to a sea of gold. All i needed was, as mantioned earlyer, my Sunbounce reflector with yellow sheet.

Equipment

As usual i had my thrusty Nikon D810 + 50mm | 1,8 Nikkor Objective with me and an asistent to hold the reflector and blind the model.

Inspiration

I drove each day for a year, last year, by this field but never got to shooting in it. My inspiration lies in this case with a painting of sunflowers i found on Pinterest

Editing

I do the most of my digital work on a Mac and using Photoshop. In this case all i wanted to do was to give the photo a faded look so i also played the Tone curve a bit.

In my camera bag

I always carry with me my Nikon D810 body with a Nikkor 50mm and a Nikkor 105mm. I don't use verry much tele because of the Fstop dissadvantage. For Studio shoots i have two on set blitz heads from Bowens, but when on the road i newer forget my SB700 at home. O... and the Sunbounce with gold/silver reflector.

Feedback

Remember to be brave about photography, try to reinvent yourself, the only perspective that counts is yours.
