Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken at the Chinese water gardens in Sydney. This was during a photography beginners course, which made me fall in love with all things photography.

Time

This was taken just after lunch. We were sitting having a sandwich I was down low and just noticed this amazing shot. Needless to say I never finished my lunch after it caught my eye.

Lighting

The lighting was very difficult for this shot as it was mid day. the light was very hard, it was a good job I was sitting under a tree and the light couldn’t ruin the shot.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D7200 on a 50mm lens F22. I used a rock at the end of the pool as a tripod. With a 5 second timer

Inspiration

I’ve always loved slowshutter waterfall photography. so when I saw this I couldn’t help myself getting excited. I grabbed my camera and started playing with the settings I’d read about settings to use so I started playing around till I was happy.

Editing

I would normally do a lot of post processing for most of my pictures. As for this one I was just starting out and didn’t know how to do it. So we are straight out the camera for this one.

In my camera bag

The first thing I pack is my 35mm/1.4 sigma lens this is my favioute for sharpness. I could used this lens with my eyes closed, my remote reliease is always in there also.

Feedback

The Chinese water garden has so many great shots to offer. The trees block the light but alow pockets of light to illuminate certain flower beds and ponds. I found that being patient and taking it slow worked reallly well with this shot. Just have fun and don’t rush taking your time is way more rewarding.
