Behind The Lens

Location

This door was on an abandoned building in a small town in East Texas.

Time

This photo was taken on 9/17/2011 at 10:25am.

Lighting

It was a semi-cloudy day. No flash was used.

Equipment

This picture was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P5100 pocket camera. Settings; ISO106 - 1/63s - f2.7 - 7.50mm. Hand held.

Inspiration

I love to take pictures of locks. Have hundreds of photos of locks and doors. When I took this picture, the first one was a close-up of just the lock. After looking at the door and the nice texture it had I stepped back and took this picture to get the door, lock and knobs.

Editing

Post-processing included adjusting the contrast and brightness, then adding a vignette.

In my camera bag

At the time this picture was taken I had a Nikon D200 and D70 in my bag. Sigma 150mm, Nikon 50mm, Nikon 70-200mm, Nikon 24-124mm, and Nikon Coolpix P5100 point and shoot.

Feedback

Always take more than one picture. Take up close, step back, and different angles. Step way back and zoom in. Do portrait and landscape. You never know which photo you will need/use in the future.
