Location
This photo was taken at sunrise in the seaside town of Motueka, New Zealand. The wreck of the Janie Seddon is a local landmark and popular with photographers that know of it's existence. There has been continual pressure in recent years to dispose of the remains as it is a potential hazard to those who wade out to the wreck and climb aboard the rusty hulk, but thankfully it is still there ...for now!Time
This was in winter so was around 6am after a frosty walk down to the shoreline from where I was staying while on holiday here.Lighting
As a predominantly natural light photographer this was taken using the naturally beautiful light offered for free to those awake at the right time...and with the right weather conditions.Equipment
This was taken with my only camera at the time, a simple Canon 650D with kit lens on Aperture priority, using a very cheap and cheerful tripod.Inspiration
As a fledgling photographer I always gravitated towards the naturally picturesque scenes, especially at sunrise or sunset, and while in the area I still return to the wreck to try to capture a different mood. It is an addictive subject!Editing
At the time this was taken I did not know much about post processing , but a little bit of enhancement was done in LightRoom. In my camera bag
Nowadays I am a photography student, and have moved on the Fuji Mirrorless system owning an XT3 with 3 lenses, a sturdy Manfrotto tripod. Also I use ND filters and Polarising filter as necessary.Feedback
Photography is an addictive passtime, and the only way to really improve is by experimentation and practice. I always write down any ideas I have for a shoot and am continually testing my gear and myself to see what is possible...I don't like following rules or being told what to do, and this way some happy accidents occur!
