Location
Photo was taken at Richmond Green park, where I'd pass by everyday on my way to work, this well maintained park you can find tamed wildlife as well as florals.Time
It was around 8 in the morning, just before the start of my work day. I dropped by this park while on route, came across a flock of these fury little guys, this one in the picture found it's way to be my subject.Lighting
I love natural lighting, especially when it's a little cloudy or overcast, luminates subject nicely as in this example.Equipment
The entry full-frame model Nikon D600 is currently my only digital camera body that I carry, and with portraits I seldom use tripod, same with flash especially when shooting in some distance with wildlife. While I really like the shallow depth of field with portraitry as well as buttery soft bokeh, the 200-500mm 5.6E VR lens is my go-to for wildlife photos.Inspiration
I love animals, especially babies and young ones, so adorable. With good understanding as well as some imaginations, their natural behaviours can be hilarious and/or story-telling. I love capturing those moments, when they can translate to a message or story.Editing
I believe everything worked out very well with this shot, so post-editing was minimal with only slight adjustments to saturation and contrast. In my camera bag
For wildlife photography, gears in my bag are pretty simple, D600 plus the 200-500mm 5.6E, some basic cleaning accessories like lens cloth and blower too, a tripod is there too when I need it but rarely used for this kind of photo-shooting.Feedback
I believe for any successful capture there is some work put in advance before the shot is made, wildlife photos for instance, aside from preparing with the right equipment and checking out weather and location, understanding the habits and natural behaviours of the subject help makes shooting easier and more efficient, with better chance of capturing that perfect shot one is looking for.
