This photo was taken in Lowther Gardens, a short stroll from where I am based in Lytham. I mainly shoot pets but it’s nice every now and again to get out and see the beauty of local parks and gardensTime
I took this just after lunch time, the stroll to work off my lunch with camera in hand was convenient. It was a bright, sunny day and that seemed to highlight the colours in the flowers.Lighting
I wanted to try and get the vibrancy of the flowers and despite the bright sun it actually helped to lift the flowers from the backgroundEquipment
No other equipment other than just a Nikon D3200 with a kit lens. I opted for the kit lens as it’s light and does offer some playing about to get that shotInspiration
My inspiration on the day was the colours of the flowers in bloom, to see them in all their glory on a gorgeous day was very upliftingEditing
Usually with some shots I like to up the contrast a touch but on this one I left it as it was, natural beautyIn my camera bag
For my day to day I usually carry a couple of Nikon bodies with a 18-55mm kit lens and a Tamron 70-300mm and they cover the majority of my shots as my work is mainly mobile.Feedback
To capture an image like this just time it right, make sure the light source, be it natural or flash, captures the flower perfectly to show the detail. And don’t over process a shot, leave it natural or just nudge the contrast up slightly.
