Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo right off my deck. I planted this Iris right along the steps so I could see it when I was outside on the deck.

Time

I walked out on my deck to drink my morning coffee and noticed my Iris had bloomed. I ran back into the house and grabbed my camera! I just loved the images that I had taken that morning. They are still some of my favorites to this day. I love the depth of the colors and the designs in the petal.

Lighting

Morning sunlight with just the right amount of shade from the roof. I love being able to find the right lighting so I can get my photos SOOC (straight out of camera) with little to no editing.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS T6. I used my 15-85 lens.

Inspiration

The colors are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I ordered this iris and planted with every intention of taking photos of it....LOL! It was everything I hoped it would be.

Editing

I use Lightroom, but I am working very hard and doing little to no editing. If anything, I may have to tweak the exposure a tad.

In my camera bag

My camera of course. Then I usually have my 15-85mm, 18-135mm, and most definitely my 100-400mm lens. The 100-400mm lens is my favorite!!! I have several backup batteries, a tripod, a mono-pod, a lens-ball (Crystal photo sphere), EXPO disc (for all my white balance needs), a few filters (that I rarely use, but I have them), and most definitely some lens cleaning wipes.

Feedback

Move around your subject. Get several angles....sometimes the best ones are the ones you'd least expect.
