I went on a trip to the Great Ocean Road last weekend, hoping I would get some good photos for sunset. Since the weather forecast showed a mostly cloudy and rainy day, I decided to visit some of the famous waterfalls there before I headed out to the sunset spot near The Twelve Apostles. As a good rule of thumb, overcast, rainy days work best for photographing waterfalls because you get much better colours and the green leaves really pop. Even though the walk down to the waterfall goes through a rainforest with a lot of steep slippery stairs, I enjoyed the walk a lot. When I was taking this photo of Hopetoun Falls, I used my Hoya polarising filter to reduce the reflection in the water as well as make the greenish leaves pop even more. I tried to avoid the boring cloudy sky above and focused more on the foreground instead. I really like the fern plant on the left; it kind of gives you a feeling that you are in the middle of the jungle. I hope you like it.
