Behind The Lens

Location

Hi, i'm a Hobby Photographer from Germany. I took this Photo at my Sisters home. She owns a beautiful Husky with gorgeous blue eyes. She was laying on the terrace stairs, almost asleep and for a breaf moment, she opened her eyes and looked strait in the camera. Thats when i pushed the shutter button.

Time

It must off been sometime in the afternoon, as she was pretty tired.

Lighting

At the time, the sun wasn't shining anymore but there was still enough light there, not having to use the flash for the shot.

Equipment

I used my DSLR, Nikon D5100 with a Sigma 17-70 mm f. 2.8 - 4 DC Macro lens. Took the shot out of the Hand, as she wasn't moving.

Inspiration

I always loved Husky's and admired their beauty, so as i knew that my sister owned one, i took the opportunity and made her to my " Model" for a day.

Editing

For the post-processing i used Photoshop Elements. Because i wanted her beautiful blue eyes to stick-out, i went for the Colorkey effect and after a few adjustments on contrast and highlights, this was the outcome. I also did a small crop to get rid off some disturbing stuff in the background.

In my camera bag

When I go out shooting i always pack my 17-70mm Sigma and the 50mm Nikkor f.1.8. I also have an extra Battery and some ND-filters.

Feedback

Don't stress the dog by running after him and trying to shoot from every position. They don't like it and will probably try to hide from you.
