Every year for as long as can remember my family and my extended family have made the 6 hour trip from Seattle to Florence OR. This area holds a very special place in my heart and this photo is something that I've really wanted to attempt for the past few years. This was taken at around 11pm on a moonless night out on the sand dunes on Honeyman State Park. This panoramic is comprised of 16 photos shot @16mm, f-2.8, ISO 3200, 20 seconds. The green that you see in the photo in naturally occurring airglow from charged particles in the atmosphere. The yellows and reds are another story. I saw the colors in the RAWs while I was out shooting and they very well could have been caused by low level aurora. In any case it's still pretty cool!
