Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a back road near Hinton, Alberta, Canada.

Time

This was shot right at sunset.

Lighting

We came upon this spot right as soon as the sun went behind the mountains so I knew the lighting would be perfect.

Equipment

This was shot with my Canon 5D mark III and my Canon 16-35 mm F 2.8.

Inspiration

The scene was just so stunning when we came over the hill that no inspiration was really needed. All I could do was try my best to capture the beauty that I was experiencing first hand.

Editing

I used photoshop for some light hand editing & enhancing.

In my camera bag

Oh I keep quite a variety of equipment with me at all times. I have my main body, my 5D III and I keep my trusty little SL1 with me as well just in case. I always have my 16-35 mm with me and my Tamron 150-600 mm for random wildlife encounters. I also keep my plastic fantastic 50 mm with me for spur of the moment portrait sessions.

Feedback

Always take the shot. Even if you're not sure if it's going to turn out the way you think, you might be surprised with it turning into something totally different & wonderful! This shot was taken with me laying on my belly on the gravel. Always try different angles.
