Location
This was taken at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus Ohio.Time
It was evening, just after dark.Lighting
This just came together. It was one of about 120 shots I took of the concert and it's the only one that really came together. The stage lighting was the only lighting used and this was a slow shutter speed'Equipment
I shot this with an Olympus Evolt E-500. Lens was a 300mm zoomed to the max. The "tripod" I used was actually the hand railing on the bleachers we were sitting in. No flash, just a sweet time exposure that fell into my lap!Inspiration
I was attending this concert and was shooting pictures of all the performers. When this group came out the lighting and back drops they used were spectacular.Editing
This was cropped, and that's all.In my camera bag
I own over 100 different film and digital cameras so it's all in what I'm trying to do, what I want to use, how I feel about the subject and the mood I'm in!Feedback
Just keep shooting. And never stop learning. Study from the masters like Ansel Adams, Bunny Yeager, Henri Cartier Bresson, Anne Liebovitz, and others. really study the prints they produce. Look closely at the lighting and contrast, the shadows, the subject. And get into film usage. One must know light, aperture, shutter relationships to control the light. It's all about the light!
