Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Alton Baker park in Eugene Oregon in the spring of 2017.

Time

This was taken in the early morning probably around 10 at the latest.

Lighting

The flower itself was about a half an inch across at most. I went back several times later in the year and it turned into something that looked like a weed. I've never seen it again and look forward to seeing it in the future as I go to the park. I loved all the colors in it and how vibrant it was. I love the fact that the velvety looking petals had a difference in texture to the velvety looking leaves.

Equipment

I have to laugh there was nothing special about what I used to take this. I used a Samsung Galaxy 6S to take the photo with. No flash... no tripod... I just stood really still. Actually I squatted.

Inspiration

At the time there was a tiny photo contest and I was just looking around for things that captured my attention. This little bitty flower was amazing to me and I had to capture it.

Editing

I believe I focused in a little bit on the flower itself but that was the most that I did after the photo was taken.

In my camera bag

My cell phone is the camera I use the most. Whenever I've tried to carry a camera around with me I've either broken it or lost it. I've broken my phone but I've always manage to get it repaired or replaced fairly quickly.

Feedback

The best thing I can suggest is to always be attentive to try to find something that speaks to you. It doesn't necessarily have to be beautiful just attention-grabbing or something that moves you emotionally. Some of my favorite photos are not particularly pretty but the images that they capture are astounding.
