Coal Mine Canyon is on the western portion of the Navajo Nation in Arizona, USA. Like Bisti-De-Na-Zin badlands, this area does have some thin seams of coal, which were used for pottery firing and home-house heating. Correction on jurisdiction from my earlier upload - the top of the canyon is Navajo, and requires a permit; the bottom of the canyon is Hopi, and because it has some culturally important sites, requires a guide.
This was not a great angle of the sun; it really flattened all of the overlapping layers.
