I shot this photo in my canal side Apartment in the center of Amsterdam, I do most of my shooting here, its nice to have all my gear at my disposal and its a very chilled out place for the models to come, just 100 meters from the famous Anne Frank's house. It was the first time shooting with amazing Ilvy Kokomo, however we had been talking on and off about shooting for almost 2 years. The wait was worth it for sure!!Time
We shot this in the middle of the afternoon, with the curtains all closed, Ilvy had to be off to another shoot soon after so this was the final setup before we had to rush away to Amersfort, funny how those final shots were when the poses really started to popLighting
It was a simple setup with an overhead LED panel, nothing special and pretty easy to get the light falling beautifully on the models curves without showing too much.Equipment
Nikon D600, Nikkor 50mm F1.8D, Gitzo carbon tripod, 3000w LED Panel, sitting on my marble fireplace :-)Inspiration
I have long been inspired by the work of Anton Belovodchenko and his stellar bodyscapes series, its the 2nd time I have shot in this style. I find it very satisfying and the results are great, its a lot easier to focus than I imagined it would be in such low lightEditing
Some basic levels adjustment in Lightroom and final polish in Photoshop to sharpen details like the eyesIn my camera bag
I love primes, so I can often be out with my 50, 85 or 300Feedback
Don't be afraid to have a go, its a lot simpler than it seems. I rented the light source and a very sturdy boom stand from Eyes on Media just outside Amsterdam, at around 80euro per day its a bargain to get the control you need. Constant light is what I would recommend for this style of shot.
