Mt. Whitney is the highest point in the continental United States at 14,505'. Located in the Inyo National Forest in California, this is the view looking down on the town of Lone Pine and the Alabama Hills. Lone Pine is at 3,727' so it's a 10,778' drop down. Hikers start at the Whitney Portal at 8,374' so it's a 6,131' climb up the 11 miles to the top!
