No need to go all the way out to the desert or even the mountains to see wildflowers and other natural vegetation in bloom in San Diego! This is Maple Canyon which lies between Mission Hills and Hillcrest just a stone's throw from downtown and right next to the airport, in fact you can hear the jetliners landing and taking off!. I was here just before Winter and needless to say it looked nothing like this! All this greenery and vegetation is due to all the major rain we had this season (and will continue to have for at least another month). I also saw a lot of storm damage, including downed trees and deeper canyons.
