I love unsaturated pictures! The soft colors give the image a vintage feeling and also make them very pleasant to the eye. Beautiful!

Location
I stopped at a friends house to see her garden. She is a master gardener, and the rain stopped, as I pulled into the drive.Time
It was late morning in late spring so all of the iris were in bloom. Beads of rain remained on the plants in her garden, and the sun began peeking out.Lighting
I prefer shooting in shade or overcast conditions, and the situation was perfect for me. This photo was shot in natural light, but not direct sunlight.Equipment
I typically shoot with my Canon MarkIII, and my walk around lens is the Canon 24-105L. I also have two different macro lenses, but didn't have them with me.Inspiration
Beads of moisture on flowers and leaves are a favorite for me and she has several unique varieties of flowers in her garden. This particular one has spectacular color (in my opinion) and was a favorite not only for me, but for her.Editing
It has been a while since posting, but typically I may sharpen slightly, and up the contrast a little. I did very little in post, and because it was peek season, brown leaves or petals, or tears in the petals were not an issue. As always, timing can be everything. In my camera bag
I hoped to visit and get a few things in bloom at my friends house, but I had been to the Farmers Market, and only had my camera and lens with me. It was a casual visit really; so the photo and others were really a bonus!Feedback
Travel with a camera, and if the battery is low, bring an extra, as well as an extra card. I bought the best lenses I could afford from the beginning, so in my case all but one lens is a pro level lens. (I am saving for the real deal, while I use that one, a wide angle). I keep a cardboard box in the back of my car to put my gear into. A nice camera bag is something I own, but really, if someone can see it in the car it is at risk for theft. A ratty cardboard box looks like nothing special. When I have my actual bag and more gear, I have a dog sling for the back seat which covers the foot area and seat area, to hide anything of value, if it will fit on the floor behind the drivers seat. The sling is actually for my dogs, so I had it anyway, but found it offered a more secure way to travel with equipment. Obviously, if my intent was to spend the day shooting, and I might be some distance from my car, I would have my camera bag, but this was a social visit and the photos a bonus.
