Location
I took this photo on a roadside stop as we drove north to Scotland. I had seen the mountain for some time, but when I found a parking lay-by with the lake as a reflective surface, I just had to get my camera out to take a quick photo.Time
This early afternoon in December, so that is why the sun is lower than one might expect, but it does give a lovely lighting effect to the snow at the top.Lighting
Natural light, is often the best canvas for a photograph within a natural landscape.Equipment
A Samsung NX-100, it was probably on auto or if in aperture mode it looks like a f20 shot. No tripod, no extra lighting has been used. Just what was available at the time.Inspiration
The natural beauty of the world around me. This is one of a series of Scottish photos from that trip, but appears to be one of the more popular one. Perhaps that is the symmetry, perhaps the lighting, perhaps the fact it catches your eye, perhaps...Editing
I think I cropped the photo and may have straightened it slightly, but other than than, no post processing was used.In my camera bag
My NX-100 is always in the car with me. I also have a portable (extendable) tripod which can be used in a multitude of configurations (it's travel sized). Along with two lenses 18-55mm, and 50-200mm. I do have a few other filters, a hotshoe flash, and a glass ball that come with me in the car, but I rarely use these apart from if I'm setting out with a particular 'project photo' in mind.Feedback
Take your time, focus on what's important to you. Don't worry about the passing traffic behind you. Stay safe. Take a few shots and then let the camera do the work. The shot above was not posed or framed. It was just there...and I happened to capture it to share with you here.
