The photo was taken on my parents’ property in Hampton, NSW. It’s a large bush block and they have about an acre of garden area fenced off to protect it from wallabies. The building in the background is the chicken coop.Time

I took this with my mobile phone. I’m a big fan of the Sony Xperia and I think this was taken with my first one, when I was still just getting to know them, so it was one of the earlier models.Inspiration
I woke up to this winter wonderland and it was just breathtakingly beautiful. The snow was pristine and still falling lightly. I just grabbed my phone and ran outside snapping off dozens of shots left, right and centre. It felt so delicate and so temporary that there was a sense of urgency to preserve the moment.Editing
No post-processing. Sometimes, when you’re trying to preserve a particular moment, it feels like it would taint the memory to fiddle with it.In my camera bag
I always carry my phone (currently an Xperia XZ Premium) and a small digital camera. I rarely have time to go out hunting for photographic opportunities unfortunately, so I need to be prepared for those lovely moments of chance that find me.Feedback
Just be ready. The miraculous and the beautiful happen every day. All we have to do is notice them and capture the moment. Take 50 photos and trust that 5 will be something fabulous. Nothing is lost by trying. If you don’t get a picture you want to hang on the wall, at least you have a memory and hopefully a lesson learnt on what not to do next time.
