I took this photo at mirror lake in a small town in Wisconsin called Mondovi, where my grandmother lives.Time
It was almost 7pm when I took this and I was rushing to capture it before the clouds moved and ruined the wispy effect.Lighting
This was really a spur of the moment picture before the color faded and clouds moved, so I wasn't able to do anything too special with it. I focused on the clouds and tried to make the trees and town in the background just silhouettes.Equipment
This was actually shot with just an iPhone 6 and nothing else.Inspiration
We had just stopped by the lake because my mom had wanted to take (steal) some lilacs that grew around the pond's edge, then suddenly we looked up and it was gorgeous. The lake lives up to it's name, as it is famous for mirrored images and clear water.Editing
I used adobe photoshop on my iPhone to boost the saturation and raise the exposure, but not much else.In my camera bag
At this point I don't have much, I have a 3 piece clip on lens for my iPhone, fish eye, wide angle, and macro. I also have a 12x clip on telephoto lens, which is great for taking pictures of birds as it's hard to get close without scaring them away!Feedback
My advice is just have your phone or camera out all the time. You never know when the perfect opportunity will present itself, so you have to be ready. Don't worry about getting the lighting perfect or all the noise, just take as many photos as you can and then you can fix them up later. I really recommend going to lakes and ponds around sunrise or sunset, as it presents great opportunities for pictures of the sky, as well as all the animals that become active during then. And if you don't have money for a DLSR, don't worry! You can get great photos with your own phone, everyone has to start out somewhere.
