Location
This photo was taken in my backyard in very early spring of 2017. There was still snow on the ground and I was experimenting with my Nikon D3400 I had gotten for Christmas. My sister, Amanda, was walking around and I took several candid shots of her.Time
It was taken late afternoon/early evening.Lighting
The lighting was perfect. I didn’t need to use a flash and her blonde hair was given a perfect level of illumination.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3400 dSLR.Inspiration
Being a self taught photographer and this being my first dSLR camera I was really just experimenting when this photo was taken.Editing
I changed it to sephia color and added a radial blur to the outer edges so her face was the main focal point. In my camera bag
Being several years later, I now have the same Nikon D3400 and have added a Nikon D7100 to my equipment. I usually also have a speed light on hand and a spare battery.Feedback
My advice to any newbies in the business is PRACTICE ALOT! Literally take your camera everywhere and experiment taking different types of shots. Don’t be afraid to be creative and try some unconventional angles and different lighting conditions!
