I called this "Opening Night", even though its dawn, because most of the back-country, minus the highest elevations is wide open to movement. The last 4, 5 days has seen dramatic change in the snow pack. The rivers are running fast and high and with another warm day followed by additional rain in the forecast the perennial pack will be mostly gone. Sadly, that also means I won't be as alone out here. I can almost hear the R.V caravan. A motivating push further into the wood and off trail. I was itching for that anyhow.
