Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a road trip through Northern New Mexico.

Time

I was amazed at the scenery during this trip. It was early morning and we were driving through the winding roads of Northern New Mexico.

Lighting

The sun in New Mexico is fantastic. Anywhere you shoot you are going to get a great image just because the the wide open terrain, mountains and the proximity of the sun.

Equipment

This was shot while driving in a car (as a passenger!:) using my iphone6s. I find it has a higher pixel resolution than my Canon, so for photos while driving in a car, it works best.

Inspiration

I had been researching New Mexico history, I was interested to find out that at one point, all of this land was under sea. So this rock formation was actually under the water at some point in time.

Editing

This is a completely unprocessed image. I rarely process images that work out well in natural light.

In my camera bag

I always have my iphone6s and usually carry my Canon G12.

Feedback

The landscapes of New Mexico are phenomenal. There are so many visually arresting places to see and photograph. I highly recommend it. It's a huge state however...be prepared for a lot of driving. The north is quite different than the south, since they get more rain and even snow at times. The south is very dry.
