Behind The Lens
Location
This photos was taken at Dingmans Marsh, on the Eastern Flyway for migratory birds, in Northern Michigan.Time
The picture was taken just after sunset. Time of year was mid to late October.Lighting
I had been taking pictures with the sun behind me trying to catch some fall foliage reflections - and they were all sort of bland. I actually had packed up to leave and saw this view in my rear view mirror.Equipment
Camera was a Pentax K-70 with the Pentax 18-55 kit lens. No tripod.Inspiration
I was trying to get some nice fall color reflection in the still waters of the mash, in the warm light of of a fall sunset. The clouds happened along at an opportune moment.Editing
Very little post processing. Boosted the exposure a little, may 1/3 to 1/2 stop, added a little sharpening, and that was it.In my camera bag
Now shooting a Pentax K-1, with the Pentax 28 to 105. Also am using the Tamron 70 to 300 a fair bit. L bracket and cabled remote release. Usually have an extra battery, memory cards, polarizer, and a couple of microfiber lens cloths. I use an inherited Manfrotto tripod with a Sirius ball head.Feedback
Patience and and keep looking around. I was so focused on trying to make something from a relatively bland scene in front of me, that I almost missed this one behind me.
