Behind The Lens

Location

I took this portrait in Bangkok Thailand, at the Terminal 21 Center Point Hotel.

Time

I remember it well - she was running late, as the perpetual traffic jam in BKK was going full strength - Arrived and began shooting at about 3:00PM.

Lighting

Floor to ceiling North-facing full wall of windows - no extra lighting.

Equipment

Nikon D3 with Nikon 24-70 f2.8

Inspiration

At the time, I was a bit new to taking photos of models. However, I was always looking to practice so. . . I guess learning to do boudoir was one of the steps I had to take.

Editing

Lightroom only - I bumped the sharpness up a tad, removed a few blemishes (there weren't many) from her face and, softened her skin a touch as well. Ayria is obviously a beautiful woman, and her skin was almost perfect - any photographer's dream model.

In my camera bag

Back when I traveled often to Asia, I would pack my well traveled D3, along with the "holy trinity" of lenses, two speed-lights with Pocket Wizard triggers, and either a 34" umbrella or 34"Octobox with lightstands.

Feedback

If you're into boudoir portraiture, or even landscapes - I HIGHLY recommend taking a trip to Thailand. Read all about it, make a plan, and enjoy discovering a centuries old culture, and meeting some of the friendliest people on the planet (I'm biased - my wife is Thai!).
