A male Anthophora pubescens coming into land. These tiny little bees are rare where I live in central France so it was quite a coup to discover a colony of them regularly visiting our Russian Sage last year. They don't have a common name, unfortunately; if they did it might likely be 'white-faced flower bee', a characteristic that is easily picked up as they zoom about the garden at breakneck speed!
