One night while surfing near Olawalu, we noticed that the waves were hitting the shore at such a perfect angle that they were occasionally bouncing back in the opposite direction. Every once in a while a special wave would sneak through and start traveling a short distance until it would slam into a wave of equal energy and shoot straight up. We thought it looked like a piece of ice shooting out of the water, so when we got out of the water at sunset we tried to capture the ice. The orange sky that night made for a pretty neat image, we call it "Vertical Freeze."
