This was, without a doubt, one of the coolest experiences of our lives. This is a specific pass in French Polynesia where all of the Marbled Grouper from all the surrounding islands come to spawn. This only happens once a year during a full moon and during the outgoing tide on that day. As the week goes on more and more grouper show up for the spawn, but knowing that his happens once a year, sharks, dolphins, and tons of larger predatory fish show up for the easy snack. There were literally 300-500 gray Reef sharks here waiting for the spawning. They could rest using the strong current during the tide change instead of constantly swimming. We were at about 100 ft, sitting on the bottom, looking up and the sea was filled with sharks. Certainly a little intimidating but at the same time absolutely breathtaking. "Shark Brothers"
