Great to have such a full backstory to the image. Nice spontaneous capture, on a site where the over processed and over manipulated image is king (IMHO)

Location
This shot was taken of my Son at Lands End in Cornwall. It was a cold and windy day and I remember my son turned round at me and then I took this shot. I took this shot a couple of years back when I had my first DLSR which was a Canon 100d using the kit lens. My wife bought it for me for my 30th Birthday as she wanted me to maybe look at another career. Since then I love Photography and cant put the camera down.Time
It was around 3.30pm in the afternoon in August so it was still pretty light out.Lighting
The light was perfect all day. Slightly overcast and cloudy as I didn't use any filters on the lens nor did I have a hood for my kit lens. At the time I took the shot I remember opening up my left side jacket to the light as the cloud broke. We were situated right on the edge of the coast of lands end in the UK, wide open space, beautiful.Equipment
This was shot on my first DLSR Canon 100d using the kit lens 18-55mm no filters or hood. No tripod Loved this camera to bits super lightweight, small and HD video was impressive for such a small camera.Inspiration
For me it was the my Son's hood over his head and the sinister look he gave. Reminded me of a young sith (My apprentice) from star was. It was a very cool pose.Editing
Yes, but to be honest not much, the camera, angle and lighting was spot on. I tweaked the contrast and saturation, the exposure was spot and really proud of myself as I was also shooting in Manual mode.In my camera bag
Back when this photo was taken, it was just the 100d with the kit lens 18-55mm and 75-300mm plus I had the nifty-50mm 1.8. Now I carry a Canon 6d, canon 24-70mm and canon 70-200mm plus various filters, canon flash gun. Slowly building up a kit and loving jumping to full-frame.Feedback
I am a self taught photographer and still learning and love every aspect of it. I especially love the outdoors, night sky and night time shooting. But this has/is still challenging as sometime you have to compromise your picture by increasing ISO. I found this very difficult with my 100d as the ISO was very noticeable at around 600 iso. But from practice, patients and with using lighting or not in your compositions, you will get there. The amount of time I have taken pictures and they have been dreadful or just not worked, even though I have had a specific type of shot in my head. Its likely down to 'how do I achieve that look'. So I will research and keeping practicing. I found, always shoot in Raw. I always shot in manual mode too as this helps me better understand the camera technically and aesthetically and Practice Practice Practice! I have always taken a view that our lives can be so busy and sometimes we can become ignorant to the things around us which we can take for granted. Take a trip to work for example: you take the same route everyday, your perspective of the journey is the same everyday and things around get blurred or missed. Change your perspective! Doesn't always have to be something or somewhere new. It could be in front of you the whole time, Just change your perspective.
