The last days of the 2017 Snowy Owl season are upon us, and i'm starting to go through the hundreds of hours of images I shot this winter. The best light always seems to be the very last days of the year, so excited to see what I managed to capture this year.

A Eurasian Eagle Owl peaking aid the corner.

This is a Snowy Owl doing something unique, fishing...but not for fish for rodents. This is a very deep furrow in a field and there was a flash thaw.

This time of year we start to see the GHO looking for love and nesting areas. This male flew at dusk towards the calls of a female in my forest.

A bit of an optical illusion, I managed to capture this image as this bird was coming towards me and just before she banked sharply to the left.

Here's a female Snowy Owl who was hunkered down in a wind storm, night was approaching and she lifted off to her night roost. It looks a lot more

A mature male snowy I surprised while climbing over a snow bank. He was invisible.

A Barred Owl with yellow leaves as a background. It was sitting basking in the sun with eyes closed for several minutes. Not common for an owl.

This Snowy Owl was packing it in for the day and heading back to her roost point. I was able to see that she was about to launch and made the image.

This is a baby Turkomen, which is a sub-species of the Eurasian Eagle Owl

This is what looks to be a young Barn Owl (judging by colour) on a mission

This female Snowy Owl didn't let a little horrible weather get in the way of her trying to survive. They truly are incredible creatures

They aren't the biggest owls in the world, or the prettiest, but they sure can make you ponder the decision of staying put, or moving quickly.

A 5 day old Loon baby riding is mothers back.
